Most of my criticisms of The Initiate are easily transferable to The Outcast, so I'll limit this review to the stuff that is notably different.
Certainly the ending was more satisfying, though it hardly took much to surpass that of its predecessor. The narrative is stronger, climaxes more intense, and slightly less exposition to get bogged down in. But the general sense of unremarkability remains, and that's what I can't get past.
I think I'm done with the series after this though. I can't imagining it improving enough for me to think it worth the time investment. Unfortunate, because I really wanted to like it more.
