I think this book is surprisingly polarizing to me. I think it has all the makings of a great novel, but some people completely miss the point of how beautifully crafted it is because the twist isn't niche enough for them. THE ENTIRE NARRATIVE, HOW EVERYTHING IN THE NOVEL HAPPENS, CONNECTS TO THE ENDING. The philosophy... the odd things that don't quite make sense... the themes of disconnection and solitude... I mean, come on, it's art. I think I was simply enjoying the characters for the first half of the novel, too. You get some incredibly in-tune bits of relationship advice and what it feels like to be in love. I think if I have one complaint, it's a mostly personal one, that being that I don't like to be in confusion for an entire novel, and this one is written in a way that you seriously don't know what's happening until it's basically over. I was getting a little frustrated, but I think that contemplating why the narrative felt the way it did POST-reading the ending was quite a fun time, and therefore I still think it's a wonderful novel... just not a five-star one. I can't wait to watch the movie adaptation.
