Lots of good stuff in here, but I can't help but feel I missed the boat a little on this one. Had I read this during my teens and/or/if it was still the 80's, I would presume that I'd have huffed it down like a sachet of fun dip powder. Alas, the year is 2026. Superhero movies have already gone through the arc of super popular, satirizing themselves, and now dying a slow painful death. Superheros are dark, gritty, and ubiquitous in our timeline.
God, how historically significant though. You can see the direct through line from this to so much that came after it. Surprisingly, I couldn't help but see the similarities to The Incredibles, which makes me enjoy it all the more. Alan Moore is such a good writer; I totally see how he got his reputation. Really effective and memorable characters, though I was a little disappointed at the plots culmination. Visually really stunning too, though I was surprised that there wasn't more bold formatting choices.
