For me this was one of those books which you struggle through, wondering if it is worth it, only to find you cannot put it down by the time you are half-way through. The learning curve, or the familiarity with the jargon, took some time to get used to, which may be the cause of the delay in enjoyment. Regardless, when the story did take hold it was clear that the earlier struggle was worth it, for John C. Wright did a masterful job in painting a futuristic world where technology has done what philosophers have always threatened it would do; made us into gods.
