I'll keep this short and sweet. This book is written in the same universe as Typhon's Children and Riders of Leviathans, but it has entirely different characters and is set on a spaceship, not a planet. It's better than Riders of Leviathan, but not as good as Typhon's Children, and that's because of the characters again.
They're just not that interesting. Rameau is the MC here, and frankly, he's a boring, self-pitying whiner. Every page feels like it has the case of the "Why Mes?" Not to mention that some of the characters speak in an odd proto language that is difficult to understand.
All in all, it wasn't that great. The story is fine and all, but the characters really sucked the life out of the plot for me.
