This book was very intriguing to me in principle but was surprising because it was both darker and lighter than I expected. A lot of it almost comes off kid-like because the main characters of the book are both children. The material that they have to contend with though at times shows a very very dark world that they live in, but its never enough to really let go of that almost kid book style that it stays in. This is not to say that it isn't a complex book, only that the material is presented from the eyes of children and in doing so it presents it in a very interesting light of innocence. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this book and was happy I finally found the time to read it.
