Silently and Very Fast by Catherynne M. Valente

Random Pick (This book was not on my very carefully planned list that minimized the number of books to read for all of my challenges!)
This short work is very elegantly written, full of beautiful prose and elegant metaphors. The use of an emerging AI's perspective for the entire work is confusing in places, as it would be for one just awoken to the concept of self. As the AI acquires sentience, the humans to whom the AI is meshed become more immersed in the AI's world, perhaps losing some sense of self? Alas, this is a melancholy story that requires reading more than once to get the full effect.
