The third in the Modern Faerie Tales series, but the direct sequel to the first book, Tithe, we again focus on Kaye who is embroiled with the dangerous dark fae court, where her beloved Roiben is about to be crowned. She has to struggle against cruel vicious and tricky fae, who try to separate her from Roiben. Once again we have good writing, wonderful settingsin the fae courts, interesting characters and an intricate plot which keeps you on tenterhooks as Kaye struggles to bring home the real human child whom she as a changling had replaced. Its great to see Kaye use her wits to outsmatr the tricky, treacherous, and even murderous fae, and for once this was a series that I would have liked to see continuing, but Ironside is an excellent wrapup to this young adult series which makes no compromises on writing or style for her young readers. Very enjoyable.
