The inimitable Ursula K. Le Guin brings us another thoughtful fanatsy this time directed at the YA audience but suitable, as always to all her fans.
The book centers on Gry (a girl) and Orrec a boy who grow up on adjacent farms in the Uplands of the Western shore. In this hardscrabble land the landowners have psychic powers that they use to coerce their servants. Orrec is frightened of his power and Gry refuses to use hers. How they come to terms with this and the inequalities of their society is the subject of the story.
