The Paper Magician

I didn't really enjoy this as much as I had hoped. It's an easy enough read, and short, but it never quite took off for me.

I didn't feel the love story elements were earned, and there were some definite signs that the author was not sufficiently familiar with the historical and geographical setting (a school yearbook? in Victorian England?) In fact, it occasionally seemed that the time period had not always been Victorian.

I realise I'm not really the target market but I like to think a good book will work for anyone who is willing to take it seriously on its own terms.

This one shows some promise, but isn't really there yet. 2.5/5.
