This one seemed to drag a bit (though the thrilling conclusion was, in fact, thrilling.) Mae was a very strong POV character, and an engaging one; I just wish so much of the book hadn't been devoted to kissing. Maybe she thought the kissing would be good tension relief from all the other mayhem that was happening. (I know this sounds mean-spirited, and is probably not particularly helpful, but I enjoyed this book very much, and was frustrated whenever it slowed down for Mae to consider the boyfriend potential of, pretty much whoever she was with at the time.)
