This book wouldn't be for everyone, but it had a lot going for it.
The story takes place in two different eras. The first, set back in the 1700's, and the second in the modern day (well, the 1980's anyway). When writing the parts set in the 1700's the author has used the style of English that would have been used back then. This is a little off-putting to start with, but I soon got into it and found it was actually quite helpful in making me feel that time period.
The lack of a satisfactory ending was the biggest issue I have with the book, but the journey to the end was interesting. I'm glad I read this.
