Unlike what one reviewer on here says, I didn't know anything about this book before reading it, so I am very glad I did not read their spoiler laden review before reading this book, or that reviewer would have totally ruined my experience of this book.

I had never heard of the movie, and although I had heard people rave about the book, I went into it completely blind. When things started to come together and I realised where this book was heading I didn't want to go there. It seemed too horrifying. I wanted to put the book down and back away slowly. But of course I couldn't. I was drawn in and had to continue to the end, to finish the story of Ruth and Tommy and Kathy. To travel with them to the conclusion.

It is a very disturbing story and doubly horrifying in the matter-of-fact way it is related to the reader. But boy, can Ishiguro write an unputdownable story.
