Improves after a rather hohum start with formulaic conflict and paper thin characterizations but not by much. The conflict between the two main characters stretches belief and their political naviete beggars description. Reynolds also repeats plot points to such an extent you feel he either needs a better editor of he's convinced his readers suffer from Alzheimers.
