Norstrilia

Norstrilia is Cordwainer Smith's only novel, and it's the only work of his that I have read. My understanding is that he wrote a number of stories in this same universe. I think I might have enjoyed the novel more if I had read some of those other stories.

Norstrilia is off-beat, a little tongue-in-cheek, and slightly weird. The style put me in mind, a little bit, of Neil Gaiman. There also is just the slightest touch of Douglas Adams and a bit of Philip K Dick.
