Lest Darkness Fall

Lest Darkness Fall is an alternate history set in the sixth century. Martin Padway finds himself suddenly thrust back in time and takes it upon himself to change history, to forestall the advent of the Dark Ages, the Age of Faith. While one can see that the development of the printing press, semaphore telegraph, and Arabic numeral accounting might have this effect, unless one is well versed in the military campaigns in post-Roman Italy, the impact of the alternate history of this book is muted at best.
