The Just City

The Just City by Jo Walton is a time-travel fantasy about an experiment by the goddess Athene to construct an experimental society based on a planned community as espoused by Plato. You don't have to know the ideas and writings of Plato to understand this story. In fact, reading The Just City may help one understand the importance of classical Greek philosophy. It's an entertaining and thought-provoking utopian novel.
