I read the audio book version of this collection of stories set in Song of Fire and Ice universe. These stories make for a great entryway into Martin's world of Westerns for those who have been hesitant to tackle the novels. They showcase the author's world building skills, his humor, and wonderful blending of historical mideival facts with an epic fantasy setting. Dunk, the young and not overly intelligent hedge knight, makes for a perfect lens to explore Westeros as we readers learn of the world along with him. Great characterization here just as in novels. If you have enjoyed the novels, these stories will only broaden your love of the Song of Fire and Ice universe and how thoroughly Martin has imagined it. The audio book was well performed, with appropriate, but easily understood accents. At times the reader dropped his voice for dramatic effect that made it somewhat difficult to hear when I was driving.
