Consider this a brief reccomendation for the Triolgy as a whole. I didn't write a plot summary, The WWE Synopsis is the best place to read a summary.
A fitting end to the Fall of the Gas Lit Empirre Trilogy. Over-all I found these books enjoyable, not earth shattering, but enjoyable. The first book, The Bullet-Catcher's Daoughter is, probably, the best of the three, but I would say all three are worth a read.
The main character , Elixabeth Barnabus is extremely well written. She has a perfect mix of skill, wit and bravery but not too much. Duncan could have gone over the top with her abilities but he doesn't and that makes her much more interesting. She has her weaknesses and flaws. Her background and upbringing in a traveling circus is the basis for her abilities but also led to her precarious life on the run.
The trilogy is set in the near past but in a world that has been forbid from major technological advance for nearly 100 years. It's an interesting concept but I saw this is more of a character driven book than a world builder... if you're gonna read it, read it for the characters.
I'd reccomend the first book and if you like it, you won't be disapointed with the next two. Also I'm anxious to see what Duncan writes next.
