Although not marked as such this is the third volume in a trilogy. It can be read as a standaolne however.

Hard SF space opera. A bit too hard is some places - I didn't realize I needed a refresher course in differential calculus to get through some of it. It's like he's trying to throw the kitchen sink into this one. Too many gratuitous info dumps and ten-dollar words. The occasional ungrammatical sentence doesn't help the rather clunky prose style.
