Blood of the Mantis

This book - this series - I really don't know where to begin. An intrepid band of college student/freedom fighters wreaking mayhem on the Evil Imperialist Forces/Military Industrial Complex! Except all the characters are (or maybe aren't? I'm not entirely sure) insects, or humans with some insect-like physical characteristics (ability to fly; ability to sting, etc). Or maybe they are humans whose clans have modeled themselves upon insect families, and have used steampunk-like technology to emulate them? I have no idea, but the books are action-packed, the lead characters are engaging, the worldbuilding is awesome, and I've read four and six more to go.
