Berserker

This is a group of short stories about planet sized machines, the Beserkers, attempting to eradicate all life in the universe. They were created by an ancient race in a war long ago. That war is now over and the creators are long gone. Now that mankind has started to expand throughout the galaxy, it is now fighting a war of survival against the Beserkers. The cold, analytical and unemotional march of the Beserkers against all life is frightening but mankind's indomitable will always seems to find a way.

I thoroughly enjoyed these stories and can't wait to read the other Beserker stories.

I wonder if this is where the Star Trek writers got the idea for the Borg Collective?
