A rather strange novel, the idea of the Atlantic tunnel is great but the building of the actual tunnel is only a small part of this book. Their is also a quite large part in which Gus Washington (the main character) goes from one end of the tunnel to the other by other means of transportation, it's quite inventive a very Jules Verne like but it has nothing to do with the rest of the story. Their is also a sceance described with an alternate universe (uncanny like the real one) where our world is being destroyed by bombs, but once again that has nothing to do with the main story. The actual building of the tunnel goes by pretty fast almost in hindsight. I expected more from the synopsis.
