This was my "random" selection for the Women of Genre Fiction Reading Challenge, and I'm not sure that I would ever have read it otherwise. Though in many spots the language was quite beautiful and lyrical, overall, the study of guilt, deception, and the manipulation of a child's love was both disturbing and depressing.
