I was skeptical when I realized that Newt Gingrich was giving a foreward, thinking that he was going to be appearing around the country like Al Gore on the latest cool political circuit craze. So, without the foreward I might not have been quite as sensitive to all of the mentions of how badly our government is screwing up regarding this topic, which seemed a little gratuitous. Otherwise, the plot followed along at a scary rate going through what seemed like a mostly realistic end-of-times scenario, without zombies. There were some issues with the main character that seemed rather unbelievable, but could mostly be overlooked if you're more interested in the overall concept of the end of the world (as we know it).

Regarding the audiobook version, the narrator's voice matched the main character and was able to adequately differentiate the voices, not that there was a terrible amount of dialogue (especially with the lady-folk, ha ha, one usually confused and upset lady on the interim government). The rate/quality of the recording was good.
