Red Rising

I'll give it this. I read the whole thing after nearly DNFing it.

After decideing to DNF I thought I'd check out the synopsis on Wikipedia - I thought, this actually sounds interesting, I'll keep going.

I didn't mind the story but the writing was not great.
"I cannot swim, but I learn quickly."
And by quickly, he meant immediately. Yeah, nah.

There were a lot of clunky bits that made me super conscious of the writing. I wasn't a huge fan of the main character who I found morally dubious and hypocritical, so I wasn't rooting for him.

But overall, I thought it had potential.
