I absolutely loved The Dead Zone, and I think that Revival is very reminiscent of that style of storytelling. This is a book that spans basically the entire lifespan of our main character, and I think that it's wonderfully done for the most part. It has some super important themes, is the pursuit of knowledge not always for the best? At what point does goodwill slide into selfish motivations of finding things that weren't supposed to be found? Is religion just the biggest insurance scam known to man? I think if you're along for all of that, it's a super good book. I don't think it packs a punch like some of King's other novels, so if you're reading it for another HORROR book, it might be disappointing. But if you want a thought-provoking look into the life of a rockstar and how things can boil for decades to really marinate, I think you'll enjoy it as I did. The ending is decidedly unique too.
Primarily read because: Stephen King Stan.
