Biography
English author of over 20 novels published between 1920 and 1953, Hilton is best known for Lost Horizon (1934, and filmed by Frank Capra in 1937) and Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1938). Hilton moved to Hollywood in the 1930s, where he worked on screenplays along with his novels, and won an Academy Award in 1942 for the screenplay for Mrs. Miniver.
