Biography
Brendon Vayo was born in Okinawa, Japan, and raised in central Massachusetts. His dad went to night school, and his mom waited tables so that he and his sister could go to college. After graduating, he taught at-risk youths, moved to Utah for an M.F.A., was an adjunct professor in Las Vegas, washed dogs, tutored, sold coupons door-to-door, joined and got kicked out of a comedy troupe, moved to Louisiana for a Ph.D., and taught in West Virginia and in Washington, D.C. before receiving a fellowship in New Orleans.
None of his work would be possible without his wife and two sons, who supported him through all the mornings and nights he spent typing away on his computer.
