Wrapping up my fairy tale influenced speculative fiction challenge for the year (well, maybe), have just read 'The Path of Thorns' by A.G. Slatter. Oh my gosh, perfect for the season as it's a gothic horror ghost story / fairy tale mixed in a cauldron by witches. It's complex, thrilling, wonderful setting immersion that subverts the notions of the 'good governess in the old house'. Characters are flawed, relationships are twisted and at times the book is quite unsettling. It's not a 'perfect read' but it hits the spot.
