Random quote: Even the past is now no longer and the future is now not yet; In that not yet there is still some consolation, it is not here, but it will come. But what will we do when the future is no longer? How different is a future that is not yet from that which is no longer? How different that absence is. The first is full of promise, the second an apocalypse. -- Gaustine, Notes on the End of Time -- Georgi Gospodinov (Time Shelter)

That sounds like the movie The Thing. It was originally a story by John Campbell. WWE has both entries the standard edition - who goes there? and the extended uncut version - Frozen Hell. Hope that helps.
