I thought we might as well have a challenge while we're all dealing with COVID-19. This challenge plays well with many others so it should not be too hard to find books that work here and with your other challenges.

Ask questions and post books that you'll be reading for the challenge here. Who's in?

Sure, I'm in. I'll go for the social distancing level, as that's the level I'm at in real life. If things change, I may have to up the level.

Don't know if I feel like reading about pandemics right now, but Connie Willis's Doomsday Book was the first that came to mind...

I have less time to read now than I normally do, since my work hours got changed to try to increase the social distancing among employees. I will try the 6 feet level.

The White Plague by Frank Herbert and The Scarlet Plague by Jack London are two that I have already read that would fit this challenge.

I am teaching a Monsters class right now. We just finished I am Legend and are starting The Girl With All the Gifts--I wish I was not quite so current with my pandemic reading--it is freaking us all out.

I may have to increase my level to 14 because on Wednesday the whole of NZ is going into lockdown. We don't have many cases here but the govt hopes a four week quarantine for everyone will stop it. Thankfully, I have lots and lots of books to read.
I will have remote access to work, but don't really know how much there will be to do. I work on a reception desk. Can't really do that remotely!

I personally think we need more of the ROTFL challenge. But since my library is closed, I'm making due with some of Groucho's books.

I've just joined. Self Quarantined level, as that's my normal book diet. How do I post books as I read them?

Welcome to WWEnd and the challenge!

Search for the books you want to add to your challenge. On the book page look for My Roll-Your-Own Reading Challenges: where you'll find the COVID-19 reading challenge and a check box. Check it off and hit Submit and it will show on your list. It will show faded until you go back and mark it as read.

More detailed instructions are on the RYO main page. Look for the tab that says Click Here for Challenge Details.

Good luck!

Good deal. That's quite a list you've got going -- very SF Masterworks heavy! Looks like someone is going to read them all.

I'm just about to wrap up my first book for this challenge. Ammonite is as good as you would expect.

Yes, I've been working my way through the SF Masterworks for a while now. Thought I'd add a bunch to the COVID19 challenge. Ammonite sounds brilliant and I might replace one of them with it. I'm finishing a non-SF book right now then will dive into A Scanner Darkly to kick off the challenge. This is a great forum and a really positive challenge.

This looks really interesting -- and what a line up of talent. These 10 stories would make a perfect anthology for this reading challenge.

I will make a How We Live Now book cover and enter it into the WWEnd DB as an anthology so it can be added it to your challenge.

Enjoying this challenge. Been away from WWE for awhile. Reading a lot of Raymond Chandler and other non sci-fi Pulp. Not my fault, WWE made me go to 2018 Pulpfest. Covid-19 and this challenge brought me back. Glad to be home, at least until 2020 Pulpfest?

In my haste in joining this reading challenge, during COVID19 lockdown last year, I failed to fully READ the description and therefore did not read 19 books about pandemics/zombies. I just finished 19 sci-fi/horror books and did 6 reviews but not on topic. Ironic really, reading all of those books but skipping the description at the start. Gotta laugh really because I have at least 19 books on the said subject that I could have read. I guess 2020 was the kind of year where many of us didn't think things through at times. Well done to all those who did read books on pandemics.
