Location: Sacramento, California		Some good ones in those lists. I really love the Rivers of London series, particularly the audiobooks. Mine for this month are:

Hyperion - Dan Simmons
12 Months - Jim Butcher
The Constant Rabbit - Jasper Fforde
Moss'd In Space - Rebecca Thorne

And if I have time, I've also started The Star Beast - Robert A. Heinlein.

I recently read 'Blood Over Bright Haven' by M L Wang. It's a book I enjoyed, which had challenging themes particularly around privilege, the difference between intentions and actions. It's also a book which explores themes of racism, sexism, colonialisation and the impact of ecological harm. It's a brave book, but quite an unsettling and uneasy read which the author doesn't always get right. At the same time, even though I could list criticisms a mile long, with characters I didn't like I still found it engaging and thought provoking and still recommend it.

Location: Great Lakes, USA		I didn't read much science fiction this month. I did start Green City Wars and To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. Hopefully, I will finish them in September. The other books on my August list are still in my TBR pile.

I read Farnham's Freehold by Robert A. Heinlein. I thought I had read this as a kid, but I found that I didn't remember any part of it. It was a bit dated and I don't think I would recommend it.

I also read Palaces of the Crow by Ray Nayler. That was excellent. I wish there had been more details about the crows. Regardless, this was a beautifully written story. I recommend this one.

I also read The Winter King. This is a King Arthur story that is not quite like the others. It was good and I will be reading the other two books in the trilogy.

Location: UK		At last i finished Ted Sturgeon's Venus Plus X.Not a fan of books about utopias or gender issues so I found it heavy going ,the big reveal in the last 30 pages seemed very bizarre and downright odd,barely credible.Only 163 pages long but took forever to plod through.
Nope I stay as a Sturgeon fan fan of The Dreaming Jewels and More Than Human tales,but I didnt enjoy Venus Plus X at all.

I enjoyed my reread of Amanda Stevens The kingdom,the second book in her Graveyard Queen series.Well written creepy southern gothic series about a cemetery restorer who can see ghosts.She also has an interesting back story and each book delves into it more.

Then there was Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London,police procedural blended with urban fantasy with London itself almost to be classed as a character.

I also read acouple of LitRPG novelslight fun and a vintage crime novel,but that was that for reading. Poor Mr Dusty's cognitive decline is accelerating,he is in hospital for blood pressure issues,but e are sadly forced to put him intoresidential nursing care.So many meetings and phone calls and paperwork to cope with,reading took a back seat for yet another month and the complexities of challenging SF had to be jettisoned yet again my brain cant cope lol
