Random quote: "A lot of the people who read a bestselling novel, for example, do not read much other fiction. By contrast, the audience for an obscure novel is largely composed of people who read a lot. That means the least popular books are judged by people who have the highest standards, while the most popular are judged by people who literally do not know any better. Veteran Posts: 116 Location: Sheffield, UK | Slinkyboy - 2019-09-11 11:45 PM Hi Naomi, For Quantum (Captain Chase #1) by Patricia Cornwell, have you read it yet? Can you confirm the Sci-Fi elements? The synopses I've read aren't clear. They make it sound like an Espionage/Techno-Thriller. I haven't read it yet, though it is in my priority to-read list thanks to Amazon First Reads. :-) I've had another look at the synopsis for it and I think you may be right - it may not be sci-fi enough to count as actual sci-fi, but at the same time I'd say it's at least as sci-fi as (for example) Gibson's Blue Ant trilogy, which I notice is in the database. If you don't think it belongs in the WWE database that's your call and I won't argue - I accept it's one of those grey area situations. Thanks Naomi Edited by Naomi_uk72 2019-09-12 6:08 PM

Thanks Naomi It's on my list to add; to me, anything about a "top-secret space mission by NASA" is science fiction. If Slinkyboy doesn't add it, I'll try to get to it in the next few days along with a few others which are on my to-do list. Having said that, while the synopsis sounds as though the book is right in my wheelhouse, the 2.94 average of 741 ratings on GoodReads is, sadly, not encouraging. illegible

It's book 3, and none of them are in, nor is the author, who is a psudonom for James Tuck, who also isn't in. I've run out of time to add two authors and three books right now as I have to leave for work.

Member Posts: 38 | Hi, can you please add Primeval and Other Times by Olga Tokarczuk? And maybe her Flights as well? I haven't read this one yet, so I can't confirm how speculative it is, but Isfdb has it, so probably? Thank you!
