Random quote: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Frank Herbert, Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear, "Dune" - (Added by: Administrator) |

I'm happy to enter future works as long as they've got a publisher, cover, synopsis, and release date. This is in.

I found it on eBay -- I've had good luck finding back cover copy there, since sellers often include scans of both front and back of books for sale. I've added it in, but as Gwen DeMarco in Galaxy Quest might say, "This jacket copy was badly written!"

Hi, MagicUnk, this appears to be self-published and does not fall under our current guidelines for inclusion in the WWEnd database. Please see the FAQ (linked at the?bottom of every page) for more information on the criteria for inclusion. Regards, Okay, I've done some research on this, and we Ubers and the Admin have had a discussion about it. This was published by Ethan Ellenberg, an author agent who has started providing a publishing service for books by authors he represents which he apparently can't sell to traditional publishers. I guess he decided he might as well be getting a chunk of the booming self-publishing business. That is why we have created a new service that I have named ‘agent sponsored publishing’. It isn’t self-publishing because just as we are your partners in our traditional activities, we will continue to partner with you should you as a client use this service. How is it different, and we hope better, than self-publishing? All of our expertise is put at your disposal in agent sponsored publishing. We provide editorial support, we provide art direction for the cover (which we commission at our expense only to be recouped from earnings), we see that the book is expertly produced and we provide marketing support to directly sell the book. We also help you market your book based on the scores, even hundreds of marketing plans we review every year and based on the nearly one thousand royalty statements we review every year. This is expertise that is rarely available to the self-published, if at all. http://ethanellenberg.com/agent-sponsored-publishing We currently have 4 books in the WWEnd database by Taylor, all published by Ellenberg in the last 3 years, which apart from Outland are the sum total of Taylor's output (and which explains the horrible covers). Technically, these should not have been added to the WWEnd database. But they're in, so we'll leave them in. But we're going to pass on Outland for the time being, and any further books put out by Ellenberg, if we get requests to add them, will probably be given hard scrutiny. I know that this decision is disappointing, and it's possible that this decision will be revisited at some point in the future. But there's a whole lot of crap being produced right now -- estimates are that 10,000 speculative fiction works are being self-published each year -- and if we say yes to some self-published works, then we have to say yes to all of them, which is something we really don't want to do. Regards,
