Random quote: "Well, the telling of jokes is an art of its own, and it always rises from some emotional threat. The best jokes are dangerous, and dangerous because they are in some way truthful." - Kurt Vonnegut

If anyone's interested, further to a brief discussion regarding non-English literature in another thread, I recommend this:

A sneak peak at a WIP translation of an incredibly successful story called 'the Cathedral' by Jacek Dukaj can be found here:
http://dukaj.fantastyka.art.pl/utwory/TheCathedral.html

The story in itself is mesmerizing, but it has also been an ispiration for a SIGGRAPH awarded and Oscar-nominated animation short by Tomasz Baginski, it too titled 'the Cathedral'. Once you see this short film (no worries = no dialogues), you're half way there to sense the incredible mood of the story.

Another example:

The same company and animators have also prepared cinematics for the upcoming computer RPG titled 'The Witcher' (coming out worldwide next month). The game is based on a series of short stories by award-winning Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. I can't seem to find any good English translations of Sapkowski's works on the net, but at least this short film may be a fine introduction:

Have fun and if there is anything like that (that is cool animations based on even cooler SF&F stories) on the other side of the pond, let me know.
