New Beginnings in Familiar Lands

After a horrific accident put her on life support, the last vestige of freedom Keina Kagami had was in the VRMMORPG World of Leadale. When she wakes up in the body of her game avatar, though, Keina-now Cayna-finds that the worries of her old life appear to be a thing of the past, but somehow this new land doesn't seem to be quite the Leadale she remembers...

The Ties That Bind

Cayna is slowly adjusting to her new reality in Leadale and all the ways it's changed over the past two hundred years, from when it was only a game. Right as the seventeen-year-old starts to find her footing, though, a trip to the northern nation of Helshper brings her face-to-face with a famous elf merchant who claims to be her grandson! Just how much has Cayna's in-game "family" expanded in the two centuries since she last logged on?

Now a full-fledged adventurer, the high elf Cayna is back on the road to locate the next Guardian Tower and any other remaining players. She stops at a fishing village where there's been talk of a palace at the bottom of the ocean--but finds the village covered in a strange fog and overrun by zombies! Investigating this eerie phenomenon leads to a chance reunion with one of her former guild members and the discovery of an orphan girl named Luka. As Cayna's circle of friends grows, will she acquire any additional insight into how she came to find herself in Leadale...?

Cayna's life following her recent move to the countryside with her adopted daughter, Luka, is both peaceful yet eventful. One day, Cayna takes a trip to Felskeilo with Luka, Roxine the maid, and Lytt, the local innkeeper's daughter, in tow to check out the royal capital's River Festival. When they arrive, however, Cayna receives word from a nearby Guardian that another Guardian Tower is running out of MP and needs Cayna's help. There's just one catch--the tower takes the form of a gargantuan whale! To make matters worse, the festival Cayna and her crew came to enjoy may be in danger... because the whale in question is swimming in that very river!

One day, Cayna receives an urgent correspondence from Shining Saber, a fellow Leadale player also transported to this new world. It turns out that a horde of monsters is headed for the royal capital and he needs Cayna to lend her mighty skill arsenal to stop the beasts. But when a Guardian Tower in the form of a giant tortoise appears during Cayna's absence, will her friends Exis and Quolkeh have what it takes to handle things themselves?!

High-elf adventurer Cayna was exploring a dungeon where she was reunited with Opus, an old friend and rival from her gaming days. With two centuries since their last meeting, they've got a lot of ground to cover. And given Opus's connections to the Admins, he just might be able to answer some of Cayna's most pressing questions: How did she get here? What happened to the VRMMO Leadale? Why can't she remember the past two hundred years? But more importantly: Will Cayna be able to come to grips with the revelations Opus has in store for her?

Cayna, Opus, and their three servants are enjoying a bit of rest and relaxation in the remote village when Cayna decides to upgrade one her items: the Pair of Eyes, which transmits footage remotely between two eyeballs. She intends to use it so that the villagers can see and hear things happening in far-off lands. In order to locate this exclusive function, Cayna must return to the Guardian Towers that her old friends left to her, and this time she's bringing Opus and Siren in tow!

Cayna finally interrogates Opus, who's been busy with various clandestine activities. He tells her that during the Game Era, Event Monsters in the Brown Kingdom broke out of the system and took corporeal forms, resulting in a mass monster propagation. Those monsters have since been sealed away in an Isolation Barrier, but Opus can tell it's deteriorating...which is why he's been searching for other former players reincarnated in this world. In order to protect Leadale, the players must gather in the Abandoned Capital for one big, decisive battle!
