Search Worlds Without End

The Starship Rhea has discovered a cluster of carbon planets that seems to be the source of the quantum energies rippling through a section of space. A landing party finds unusual life-forms inhabiting one of the planets. One officer, Lieutenant T'Ryssa Chen -- a half-Vulcan -- makes a tenuous connection with them. But before any progress can be made, the Rhea comes under attack from the Einstein -- a Starfleet vessel now controlled by the Borg. When the ship arrives, the Jarada seem uncharacteristically friendly. They invite Picard to send down members of his crew and negotiations proceed both quickly and smoothly. The leader of the planet's society, however, is wary of trusting the Starship Enterprise crewmembers, and has the away team arrested. With time running out, Data must find a way to save his crewmates or watch as two worlds are destroyed.

In the middle of a routine mapping mission, Captain Picard and the crew of the "U.S.S. Enterprise" encounter a culture just on the edge of developing warp drive technology. When they survey the planet, they are startled by the sudden approach of thousands of spacecraft from an aggressive alien race bent on destroying this emerging culture. Riker, Data, Worf, and La Forge risk their lives to find out, and so does Admiral nechayev of Starfleet.

But a dangerous test turns even more deadly when hostile forces seize control of the saucer -- and turn it against the Enterprise.

Eighty years ago, bodiless alien entities brought a plague of violence and bloodshed to the planet Vulcan. The terror was ended only when the entities were trapped in special containers and walled away behind forcefields.

But now, some greedy Ferengi have opened the containers, releasing the rapacious entities to possess the bodies of the Enterprise crew. No one can be trusted - anyone could be host to one of the alien things - and Captain Picard must devise a way to defeat the entities before they spread throughout the Federation.
