Biography
Eduardo Jiménez (b. Boston, 1976) was raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he attended Catholic elementary and high schools. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a BA in Hispanic Literature (1999), and as an undergraduate he enjoyed a Mellon Foundation Fellowship and a White House Fellowship. Later, he received his doctorate summa cum laude in the same field from Universidad San Pablo-CEU in Madrid, Spain (2004).
He wrote a scholarly book on the famed Spanish poet Antonio Machado (The Gospel According to Juan de Mairena, 2004) that was published in Spain, and he translated the complete fiction of award-winning Mexican author, Bruno Estañol, into English (Floricanto Press, 2006). His literary translations have appeared in several publications, including the critically acclaimed anthology of Mexican short stories, Mexico: A Traveler’s Literary Companion, from Whereabouts Press. He currently lives in San Antonio and teaches World Literature and Interdisciplinary Inquiry at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
