Biography
B. L. Holmes is Barbara Lindquist. In partnership with Jeanne Arnold, she helped create Mother Courage Bookstore from 1978 to 1983 and Mother Courage Press in 1981, publishing 25 titles that sold internationally including two that were among the first sexual abuse therapy books for children. They retired the press in 2002.
She is the author of four published books, three under the pen name of B. L. Holmes, "Mega", "Rowdy and Laughing" and "Senior Citizen" and one under her own name,Barbara Lindquist, "The Bean Queen." She also illustrated four other books and designed covers and other artwork for the press.
As an artist she has sold more than 100 works that are in private collections around the country. She also built a total of 57 musical instruments, including five guitars, three violins, three dulcimers, mandolins, drums, a hurdy gurdy and many, many others.
She played Guitar and other instruments, organizing the women's band "The Depends" in 1998 and playing with the band "Roadkill." For about a year.
She is also a sailor, boat builder, Macintosh computer expert and scuba diver.
