Biography
Robert James Ewald was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 5, 1929 and was adopted by the late Alfred and Helen Rice Ewald. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. Bob's undergraduate education began at the University of Toledo in 1954 and ended when he received a BS in mathematics from Findlay College in 1967. He went on to get an MA before earning a PhD in English at Bowling Green State University in 1977.
In 1972, he became an English faculty member and administrator at Findlay College, where he remained for a total of 30 years. Ewald was a leader of the Science Fiction Research Association and the author of the scholarly book The Pastoral Science Fiction of Clifford Simak.
