Biography
I'm a writer, editor, reviewer, musician, and general media junkie, with a passion for science fiction, music, hockey, movies, spy fiction, coffee, video games, good friends, and far too many television shows. I grew up near Buffalo, New York and have also lived in New York City, Iowa City, and Los Angeles. I currently live and work in Portland, Oregon.
I started reading and writing fiction in my early teens and have been pursuing a writing career, more or less, ever since. I'm primarily a writer of genre fiction: science fiction, fantasy, mystery, spy fiction, and blends of the above.
After high school I pieced together a special studies writing degree from New York University, SUNY at Fredonia, and Michigan State University -- the latter for credits from the Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writer's Workshop, which I attended in 1994. My first short story was published in 1998, and I've since sold to a number of markets in the SF and fantasy genres, including Asimov's SF, Cosmos, Interzone, Talebones, and The Third Alternative. From 2004 to 2010 I was the fiction editor for Futurismic. I'm currently working on more stories, as well as novel projects. In 2012, I attended the Taos Toolbox Writer's Workshop.
