Biography

P.C. VERRONE’s work has appeared in FIYAH, Nightmare, PodCastle, Strange Horizons, and numerous anthologies. His debut novel Rabbit, Fox, Tar is forthcoming from Catapult in June 2026. His plays have been developed, produced, and published across the U.S. He has been a Tin House Resident, a Playwrights’ Center Fellow, and a WNDB Black Creatives Revisions Workshop winner. He graduated from Harvard College and holds an MFA in creative writing from Rutgers University–Newark. He lives in Dallas with his husband and their dog, Apollo.

P.C. VERRONE is a writer of page and stage. His fiction and poetry have appeared in FIYAH, Nightmare, PodCastle, Strange Horizons, and numerous anthologies. His debut novel Rabbit, Fox, Tar is forthcoming from Catapult in 2026.

His short plays include The Elves (Center Theatre Group), Eve and The Son Also Rises (Blank Theater’s Young Playwrights Festival), The Tamale Man and Slow Your Roll (Native Voices; CoNA Short Play Festival; Native Joy Festival), and Powwow on a Hiding Moon (Native Voices). His full-length plays include Calamus (The Custom Made Theater Co.), Bad Medicine (Native Voices; Santa Fe Playhouse; La Jolla Playhouse; Primary Stages; NNPN Showcase), PIONEER (Playwrights’ Center), The Forester (EST/Sloan Project) and Crocodile Day (Urbanite Theater; AlterTheatre). His awards include the 2024 Otherwise Award, 2021 Bridport Prize in Flash Fiction, and winning the adult fiction category of the inaugural Black Creatives Revision Workshop; finalist in American Blues Theatre’s Blue Ink Award, the Yale Young Storytellers Competition, and B Street Theater’s New Comedies Festival; and semifinalist in the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference. His fellowships and residencies include the Tin House Residency, 2021-22 Many Voices Fellowship (Playwrights’ Center), Generation Now Fellowship (Children’s Theatre Company/Mellon Foundation), and a 2025 Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. He graduated from Harvard College and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Rutgers University—Newark.

Much of his work pulls from his mixed Black, ???????????? (Osage), Kiowa, and Italian heritage, his queer community, and his fascination with history, folktales, and speculative fiction. When he is not writing, he enjoys drag shows, baking, and exploring nature with his husband and their DoberDane, Apollo.
