Biography

My name is Drew Karpyshyn. On the off chance you've stumbled across this page with no idea who I am or what I do I guess I should tell you that I'm a writer. I like to tell stories, whether they're novels, video games or screenplays. And this is my website.

I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 28, 1971. I grew up in St. Albert, a city just a few minutes northwest of Edmonton, and I bought my first house in Sherwood Park just a few minutes east of Edmonton, where I lived with my wife Jennifer and our cat, Roxy for nine years.

But in the spring of 2009 we decided we'd had enough of the cold and snow. So we sold our house, packed our stuff, grabbed the cat and moved down to Austin, Texas, where we currently live.

In 2000, I started working for a little video game company called BioWare. I worked there for almost twelve years as a writer, and I contributed to a number of games: the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and Star Wars: The Old Republic. I retired in February of 2012 to focus more on my own projects, and to spend more time golfing.

So welcome to my little corner of the inter-web. Poke around, check things out and I hope you enjoy it.
