Biography

Marvin Kaye is an American mystery, fantasy, science fiction, and horror author and editor. He received a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts at Penn State in 1960, as well as a Master of Arts in English literature and theater in 1962.

Kaye served as a reporter for Grit Publishing Company from 1963-1965, an assistant managing editor for Business Travel Magazine in 1965 and a senior editor for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich from 1966-1970. He worked as a freelance writer in 1970 and artistic director of The Open Book in New York City, 1974. He was a lecturer at the New School for Social Research in New York City in 1975, taught at NYU as an Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing in 1976, and as an adjunct professor at Mercy College from 2001-2006. He also worked as an improvisational comic at The Jekyll and Hyde Club in 2005.

Kaye has edited numerous horror anthologies, one of which won a World Fantasy Award in 2006. In 2011, he became the editor of Weird Tales. Kaye is a member of the Authors Guild, the Dramatists Guild of America, the Actors' Equity Association, The Broadway League, and The Sons of the Desert (for which he served as president from 1974-1976). He is also an honorary member of the Mark Twain Society.
