Biography
Megan Arkenberg is an award-winning writer of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Her work has appeared in over fifty publications, including Asimov's, Lightspeed, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and Clakesworld, and in anthologies such as The Apocalypse Triptych, Heiresses of Russ, and The Best Horror of the Year. Her stories have been translated into Chinese and Japanese. She also writes speculative poetry, and her long poem "The Curator Speaks in the Department of Dead Languages" won the 2012 Rhysling Award.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Megan attended Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where she earned a B. A. in English and secondary education. She currently lives in California, where she studies English literature and teaches composition at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on Romantic and Victorian literature, the Gothic, and Queer Theory.
Megan procrastinates on writing and research by editing the fantasy e-zine Mirror Dance. In 2015, she edited the nonfiction for Queers Destroy Horror!, a special issue of Nightmare. When she's not working with words, Megan enjoys museums, live theatre, interior decorating, and walking in the vicinity of trees or large bodies of water. She also tweets @meganarkenberg and blogs sporadically at Bitter Irony.
