Stretching my own theme a little by reading 'The Hollows' by Daniel Church which sits in the folk horror genre. It's a good book to read towards the end of winter and conveys a sense of isolation, cold and darkness quite well. It kind of plays with expectations a little being more of a crime novel early on and I'd say the first half of the novel is great. It does try to do a little too much in the book and go from old folkloric local legend to something far grander in scale to the novel's detriment.
