The Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) recently named William Gibson the 35th recipient of the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award for lifetime achievement. In celebration of that milestone we've kicked off the William Gibson Reading Challenge.

Gibson was a major player in the cyberpunk movement and influenced many writers so in this challenge we'll be reading Gibson's works and anything cyberpunk, or inspired by Gibson, by other authors. Use your best judgement on what counts or ask in the forum if you're not sure.

More details on the challenge page. Click the banner to get there.

Who's in and what level are you going for?

Well, I missed this by a year. 2020 is my Gibson year. I've already read six, and I have 3-5 more planned. I had previously read Neuromancer and The Difference Engine. This year, I plan to read pretty much everything else that is out.

You are welcome to revive this challenge if you want to. You can start a challenge any time of year so don't worry about not starting it in January.

just a note. A graphic novel of Gibson's vision of Alien 3 is out and in the database. (He did the original script, which was not produced.) That's been resurrected from oblivion and given a comic treatment. And there are non-fiction books in the database on Gibson too. So give those a look.
