Random quote: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Frank Herbert, Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear, "Dune"

I just realized that almost one half of the books that I have read this year are written by LGBT authors or feature LGBT characters. I'm thinking of recycling last year's LGBT challenge if anyone else interested. If I do this, I will offer the typical reading levels of 12, 9, 6 and 3.

Any takers?

Rhonda

I might add this challenge! I did it last year and found at least one new author I'd read again. Which books have you read recently?

I am currently reading Scale Bright by Benjanun Sriduangkaew. I just finished Trouble on Triton by Samuel Delany. The other books I've read are Veronica Schanoes' The Burning Girls, Jo Walton's The Just City, and Lauren Owen's The Quick. That's 5 of 13 books. I guess I could count Ancillary Justice as well, since everyone's gender and sexuality is a bit of a mystery in that book!

I'd join. I'm at least reading some Delaney this year.

I've updated the LGBT banner from last year in case you want to use it again.

Okay, I have set it up to start Apr. 1. Dave, can you add the banner? Thanks, Rhonda

I wonder if any one has seen the G+ post on the college student at Oberlin who has amassed a 800+ book database of speculative fiction addressing diversity? Doublediamond.net I haven't looked at it closely yet but it looks like a good resource.

I've joined. Can you back date the challenge to January, rather than April? I've already read a few books this year I could add for the challenge, but if it starts in April they don't count!

I was going to put up a note saying that anything from the 2015 challenges count. I will fix it later when I am on my computer--not my iPad. Welcome to the challenge!
