Veteran Posts: 144 Location: Fort Myers, Florida USA | Amnesia Moon by Jonathan Lethem. This has been recommended to me to read. It's named in his biography here on WWE but the book itself isn't listed. From the book's blurb: "In Jonathan Lethem's wryly funny second novel, we meet a young man named Chaos, who's living in a movie theater in post-apocalyptic Wyoming, drinking alcohol, and eating food out of cans...." Post-apocalyptic is generally classified as SF, isn't it.? Perhaps Amnesia Moon is omitted for some reason, but if not, please add it.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 306 | Sort of a philosophical question: sometimes the database lists shorter stories- maybe they are considered novellas? I'm all for adding those but I wonderec what is/ is there a criteria for length of a story to be added?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 306 | For instance, Wakulla Springs, Unlocked and the Geavenly Fox are fairly brief. Which leads me to wondering if John Chu's The Water That Falls On You From Nowhere can be added to the database??

Uber User Posts: 1465 Location: The Netherlands | Right now almost anything we add (there are a few exceptions) are works that have a traditionally published dead tree edition. There are a few publishers who still do shorter stuff so some of it ends up in the database. It doesn't necessarily have to be a certain length. Wakulla Springs, as far as I know, has only been published online, same goes for The Water That Falls On You From Nowhere. Were looking into expanding the short fiction in the database so we can start covering those awards categories as well, but we're not quite ready for that yet. When we are, you can be sure that we'll have a go at the stuff on Tor.com

The only non-novels I've seen in the database are all novellas: Unlocked, Wakulla Springs, The Heavenly Fox, Silently and Very Fast, Six-Gun Snow White, Equoid, and Burning Girls. With the exception of the first (released this year), all the rest were award nominees. Note that the Mythopoeic Award nominees can be novels or novellas; they don't have separate categories for those, so those which are novellas are going to be in the WWW database by default. The Water That Falls on You From Nowhere is a short story (and an award nominee).

Uber User Posts: 770 Location: SC, USA | Dave and Chris are working very hard to create a set up so that we can start adding individual short stories. I think we are all very curious to see how that new feature will work with the interface that we are all used to. Once we can add short stories, the Tiptree Award can be added, which has been a collective goal for a very long time. Rhonda

Uber User Posts: 526 Location: UK | gallyangel - 2014-11-17 3:56 AM Now we're truly all over the map. I just added an author that died on the Titanic. I was thinking this must be the mystery writer Jacques Futrelle, and was wondering what he wrote that might be considered SF/F, but no, it's a different author that died on the Titanic.
